Amber is fossilized tree resin that contains succinic acid, which releases anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain relief) properties when released into the skin. For a teething baby, when wearing the amber necklace, the warmth of his/her body heat releases the amber to release succinic acid into the skin, giving him or her relief from pain. The succinic acid also reduces his or her gum inflammation. Succinic acid is essentially a natural pain reliever, like Advil or Tylenol (but natural). It blocks pain and reduces inflammation.

For safety reasons, do not allow your baby to chew on the teething necklace. Remove the necklace whenever your baby is unsupervised, including when he/she is sleeping.

Momma Goose necklaces are designed with safety in mind. Each bead is individually knotted on the string, so that if your baby were to break the teething necklace, only one bead would go free. The plastic clasp at the back of the necklace is also held together by knots. This ensures that if there’s enough pressure on the necklace, the clasp would break. The beads are also very small (smaller than a pea), so they can be easily swallowed if a bead gets loose. There’s little to no choking hazard.
